
Successful activities of international students who completed their studies at KWU
With the promotion of internationalization, the number of international students who have completed graduate school and obtained master's and doctoral degrees at KWU has increased. The number of international students with undergraduate degrees is also expected to increase in the future. They are active in various fields in Japan and their home countries, making use of the expertise they have acquired at our university. This series introduces their activities.
Two graduates active in the Chinese food industry


We are pleased to introduce two people, Ms. Qiu Yu and Ms. Wang Yu, who are working in the food industry in China. Ms. Qiu Yu was an intern at the Department of Food and Nutrition, Faculty of Home Economics of our university from 2013.4.1 to 2019.3.31. She studied in the Department of Food and Nutrition, Graduate School of Home Economics (master's program) , the Department of Living Environment (doctoral program) and received her Ph.D. in March 2019 under the guidance of Professor Reiko Nakayama. She then returned to China and currently works for Food Data Link, a company that provides and analyzes information on the food industry in China and abroad, where she holds the position of company operations manager. Wang Yu, on the other hand, met Professor Hajime Hatta, also of the Department of Food and Nutrition at KWU, while studying in France, and came to Japan in June 2015 as a collaborating researcher at KWU. In April 2016, she entered the Ph.D. program of the Department of Living Environment, and returned to China after receiving the Ph.D. in March 2019.
At present, she has the great responsibility of being the director of the development department of GoldWing, a leading egg industry in China. On May 27, 2022, an interview with Wang Yu was published on the Chinese online news site NetEase, and the interviewer was Qiu Yu. They are both Ph.D. graduates of the KWU and are now working in the food industry in China and are both very active. (Photo: The two after the graduation ceremony)
Alumna working as a full-time lecturer of Japanese Language and Literature


We are pleased to introduce Ms. LI XIAN. From 2013 to 2021, Ms. Li Xian was enrolled in the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto Women's University, under the guidance of Professor Kazumi Shinma (then), Professor Koji Takigawa (then), and Professor Masashi Nakamae, respectively.
After receiving her Ph.D. in literature in March 2021, she returned to China in July of the same year and is currently a full-time lecturer at Sanjiang University, School of Foreign Language in Nanjing, teaching Japanese language and literature.
Looking back on her seven years of study abroad, she said, "I am the person I am today because I was exposed to the essence of academics under the free academic culture of Kyoto Women's University, where utilitarianism is not pursued. We look forward to Ms. Li Xian's continued success.
