Intensive Japanese Language Program
Introduction
Kyoto Women’s University opens the Intensive Japanese Language Program in the spring semester 2022.
This Intensive Japanese Language Program enables high school students (graduates) who have studied Japanese in their home schools and wish to study at a Japanese university in the future to acquire the Japanese language skills necessary to study in Japan. The purpose of this program is to deepen these students’ knowledge of the Japanese language and understanding of Japanese society and history.
Those who have scored N4 on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at the time of graduation from high school will take the course for one year starting in the spring semester, and those who scored N2 on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) will take the course for half a year starting in the fall semester.
The goal of the program for students is to take the Kyoto Women’s University Undergraduate Admission Test or other Japanese university admission tests for international students in February after taking the JLPT and EJU, and to enter their desired faculties at Japanese universities in April.

Spring semester: While taking the beginner classes in Japanese subjects, students will also attend the Intensive Japanese Lecture and focus on learning Japanese. (Depending on the student’s Japanese ability, they can select intermediate classes.)
Fall semester: Students, who join in April, will take intermediate classes (if they took intermediate classes in the spring semester, they can take advanced classes.) in Japanese subjects and will aim for the N2 level of the JLPT. Students who start in September should be above N2 level, so they will take advanced or intermediate classes in Japanese subjects and aim for JLPT N1 level in the meantime.
In addition, beginning in the fall semester (September-), students will take Introductory Study of Japanese Society. Through the study of Japanese politics, economics, society, geography, and history, in order to measure the basic academic skills in liberal arts, especially the thinking and logical abilities which are necessary for studying in Japanese universities, students will develop their understanding intensively for 6weeks from September to October (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 2 classes a day).
In addition to the above, starting in November, they will take Essay Guidance once a week (90×2 classes a day), and while learning how to write an essay that will be required at the university after admission, they will also practice for an interview through roll-playing, taking into account the entrance examination for international students.
