Intensive Japanese Language Program

Introduction

Kyoto Women’s University opens the Intensive Japanese Language Program from Spring semester 2022.

This Intensive Japanese Language Program enables high school students (graduates) who have studied Japanese at their home school and wish to study at a Japanese university in the future to acquire the Japanese language proficiency required for studying in Japan. The purpose of this program is to deepen those students’ education of the Japanese language and understanding towards Japanese society and history.

Those who have obtained N4 on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at the time of graduating from high school will take the course for one year from the spring semester, and those who have already obtained N2 on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) will take the course for half a year from the fall semester.

The aim of the program for students is, after taking the JLPT and EJU, to take the Kyoto Women’s University undergraduate admission test or other Japanese universities’ admission tests for international students in February, and enter their desired faculties at Japanese university from April.

Spring semester: while taking the beginner classes inJapanese subjects, attend the Intensive Japanese Lecture as well at the same time and focus on learning Japanese. (Depending on the student’s Japanese ability, they can select intermediate classes.)

Fall semester: students, who participate from April, while taking intermediate classes (if they took intermediate classes in the Spring semester, they can take advanced classes.) from Japanese subjects, will aim to obtain N2 level of JLPT. Since students who participate from September are supposed to have more than N2 level in the first place, they will take advanced or intermediate classes in Japanese subjects and in the meantime will aim to obtain JLPT N1 level.

In addition, from the Fall semester (September-), students will take Basic Lecture of Japanese Society. Through learning Japanese politics, economy, society, geography, and history, to measure the basic academic skills in liberal arts, particularly thinking and logical abilities which are necessary for studying at Japanese universities, students will develop their understanding intensively from September to October for 6 weeks (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 2 classes a day).

Beside the above, from November they will take Essay Guidance once a week (90×2 classes a day), and while learning how to write an essay which will be needed at university after entry, they will also practice for an interview with roll playing considering the entrance examination for international students.
