Kyoto Women's University Internationalization Initiative

Kyoto Women's University Internationalization Initiative

Since its inception, Kyoto Women's University, a pioneer in women's education, has been the birthplace of women who go on to excel in their respective fields. The university was founded on the principle of providing education based on the Buddhist teachings of Shinran. The school's objective is to teach the students to know themselves through the conduit of Buddhism. It is impossible to escape our viewpoints as selfish creatures. We are only able to coexist with people from different backgrounds only once we fully understand that fact. In order to foster women who would grow to contribute to a rapidly expanding global society, in 2010 it was decided that the university would undergo an internationalization initiative as one of its grand visions. "It is our hope that we will be the educational link between Higashiyama, Kyoto and the rest of the world. For that purpose, we must send our students out into the world and welcome international students with open arms." Under the strong leadership of our dean, we advance in the face of future challenges to aid in fostering women able to actively take part in this global age.
